Designed to equip educators with essential resources, mentorship, and instructional strategies, the induction program combined professional learning with community support to prepare teachers for the upcoming school year.
Day One: Professional Growth and Classroom Strategy
The first day centered on instructional excellence and understanding student needs. Educators participated in an interactive professional learning workshop led by Dr. Alison Nealy, Associate Department Head and Clinical Professor at the University of Georgia. Dr. Nealy’s session challenged teachers to examine diverse learning styles and individual student needs.
In addition to the workshop, induction activities included:
-
Instructional Focus Preview: An introduction to district-wide priorities centered on clear Learning Intentions and measurable Success Criteria.
-
Resource Exploration: A guided tour of available instructional materials and system-wide technology tools.
-
Leadership Connections: Small-group sessions where new hires collaborated directly with their assigned Instructional Lead Teachers and Assistant Principals.
“Our teachers are the heart of our schools, and we are excited to welcome these talented educators to the Banks County family,” said Superintendent Dr. Ann Hopkins. “Each of them brings unique experiences, fresh perspectives, and a passion for helping students succeed. We are confident they will make a positive impact on our classrooms and community.”
Day Two: Banks County BOE and Benefits
The second day focused on meeting members of the Banks County Board of Education and connecting with key district support staff.
Representatives from professional education organizations—including the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE), the Georgia Association of Educators (GAE), and ValuTeachers—were on hand to present key resources, insurance options, and career support services.
