State School Superintendent Richard Woods visited Banks County High School this morning to recognize Banks County students, teachers, staff, and leaders for outstanding academic achievement and growth.
During the visit, Superintendent Woods presented Banks County High School and Banks County Middle School with state banners earned through the Georgia Department of Education’s 2024–2025 Literacy Leader and Math Leader recognitions. These recognitions honor schools that demonstrated exceptional achievement or growth in reading and mathematics, as measured by Georgia Milestones results.
Banks County High School was recognized as a Literacy Leader for High School Growth and a Math Leader for High School Growth. Banks County Middle School was recognized as a Math Leader for Outstanding Achievement.
Banks County Middle School was also recognized during the visit for the state banners the school received last year, including the Literacy Leader banner.
In addition, Banks County Middle School was recognized as a Title I Reward School, placing the school among the top 5% of Title I schools in Georgia for academic achievement and student growth.
Superintendent Woods has been visiting schools across Georgia to personally present these banners and celebrate the educators and students behind the achievement. His visit to Banks County High School provided an opportunity to honor the district’s continued progress in literacy and mathematics.
