Banks County High School Welcomes New Assistant Principal Curtis Chitwood

Mr. Chitwood brings an impressive educational background and commitment to the Banks County community. Having spent fifteen years at Banks County High School as a Special Education Teacher, Social Studies Teacher, and Driver's Ed Instructor.

In addition, his experiences include two years teaching Social Studies at Banks County Middle School, serving as an Instructional Coach for the Hart County Charter System for one year, and contributing significantly to our sports programs as an assistant basketball coach for both boys and girls teams over eleven seasons, three seasons as the Varsity Boys Golf Coach, six years as FCA Huddle Leader, and two years as Interact Club Sponsor at BCHS.

He holds an undergraduate degree from Emmanuel University and a Master's from Piedmont University.

"With a strong knowledge of instructional strategies paired with exceptional communication skills, I know Mr. Chitwood will play a crucial role working with all of us towards the common goal of student success," stated Will Foster, newly appointed Principal of Banks County High School for the 2024-2025 school year.

Chitwood is a former Franklin County High School graduate. He is married to Sara, who is a BCHS alum. They have two children, Ellison and Landry.

Mr. Chitwood will start his new role in the summer of 2024.
