The Banks County Board of Education has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 4.50 percent. All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearings on this tax increase to be held at the Banks County Board of Education, 1989 Historic Homer Highway, Commerce, Georgia on August 8, 2019 at 11:00 am and 6:00 pm.

This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 14.511 mills, an increase of 0.625 mills, Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 13.886 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $150,000 is approximately $37.50 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $100,000 is approximately $25.00.
