In today’s world our students face many different challenges. In order for our students to positively meet these challenges, Banks County School System is seeking to provide our students with a social emotional curriculum. By researching several social emotional curriculum options, the district wide committee determined “7 Mindsets” curriculum to best support our students’ needs. The 7 Mindsets program is designed to intentionally develop the following 10 Social and Emotional Learning Competencies in students: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, Decision-Making, Resilience, Growth Mindset, Empathy, Sense of Purpose and Hope.
Prior to adoption we are providing a review period that will conclude on Friday, July 31, 2019. Below are links providing sample lesson plans/videos and information explaining the philosophy and components of the 7 Mindsets curriculum. Parents and guardians have an opportunity to review the links below, contact with any questions or concerns, or schedule an appointment with the Director of Teaching and Learning, Linda Hawks, to review the curriculum at the Banks County Board of Education at 706-677-2224.

The Department of Special Education of Banks County Schools announces its intention to destroy Special Education Records that were collected, maintained, or used in the provision of a free appropriate public education for disabled students in Banks County Schools.
Records of students who enrolled in a special education program for the disabled and whose birthdays are January 1, 2996 through December 31, 1996, are no longer needed for education planning purposes. These records may be needed by the student of parents of Social Security of other reasons. The system plans to destroy these records on September 1, 2019.
If you, as the student or parents of the student, desire copies of these records prior to destruction, contact the Department of Special Education at (706) 677-2224, ext. 1709. You will be required to produce identification or provide verification data. Please give at least 48 hours notice to have records ready for pick-up.
