Upcoming 7th graders Need Proof of Shots PDF Print E-mail

Dear Parents or Guardians,

Whooping cough, also known as pertussis, is a bacterial infection that can easily spread causing severe coughing fits and missed days of school.

Meningococcal disease is a serious bacterial illness that affects the brain and the spinal cord. Meningitis can cause shock, coma, and death within hours of the first symptoms.

To help protect your children and others from whooping cough and meningitis, Georgia law requires students be vaccinated against both diseases unless the child has an exemption.

Before starting the school year, all students born on or after January 1, 2002 and entering or transferring into 7th grade will need proof of a whooping cough booster shot and a meningococcal shot.

Congratulations to the FFA Senior Team.  They are the 2014 Career Development Event State Champions in Forestry. This is the first time ever that Banks County has won this event and the first time a North Georgia team has won this event in 16 years.

The Junior Team placed 3rd.  This is the highest the Junior team has placed in this event at the state level, finishing less than 2 points from runner-up.

The Forestry contest is made up of 10 individual events and a team activity: land measurement, hand compass practicum, dendrology, forest disorders, ocular estimation, cord volume, board foot volume, reforestation, timber stand improvement, and forest management.

Please help us congratulate these students for their accomplishments.  We are very proud of their hard work.
